I may be able to help!
I have undertaken post-graduate training to support the rebalancing of the hormonal system in both men and women. The technique is a development of the work of Tom Bowen applied specifically to the hormonal and reproductive systems, developed by the late Trevor Rose in Australia.
The holistic approach of hormonal rebalancing using Bowen Therapy has been proven to be very valuable in treating many hormonal disorders. It is an outstanding series of gentle, yet firm moves that empowers the body’s natural healing forces, allowing a free flow of energy around the spine, extremities and body organs.
What does a treatment involve?
An appointment generally lasts 45-60 minutes. The treatment can be given through light and loose clothing or directly on the skin. Before commencing the hormonal work, 1-2 full-body treatments are required to balance the body. This maximises the effectiveness of the hormonal work that follows.
The number of sessions required does depend upon the person and also upon the presenting symptoms. As a general guide, for most conditions, improvements would be expected within 3-4 hormonal treatments.
Please note that some of the hormonal treatments may be shorter than others as we will be performing very specific, time-tested protocols where less is often more. Any extra time in your booking can be used to discuss your case and any other steps that can be taken if desired.
During a session, there are several break periods where the therapist will step away, in some cases leaving the room, in order to give time and space for the body to react to the treatment and make changes. These periods are an essential part of Bowen treatments as they facilitate the rebalancing required. While Bowen therapy can be compared to osteopathy and chiropractic due to its effects on the musculoskeletal system, it is more like acupuncture than massage in its approach: less is often more.
The treatment is gentle and therefore suitable for all ages, from babies to the elderly. While Bowen is usually given to a client lying on a treatment table, it is also possible to treat someone sitting on a chair if mobility is an issue, for example in pregnancy or the elderly. There are no known contraindications to receiving Bowen therapy.
Nutrition & Other Advice
While your session will be focussed upon a Bowen treatment, in cases where it is relevant, I may also offer some basic nutritional and other related steps that could be taken to assist your condition. As a fully trained naturopath and nutritional therapist (click here for info), I am uniquely placed to offer this more complete service to my Bowen clients. However, please note that if you would like a detailed nutrition and advice based-consultation, including a written-up plan and the possibility to run lab testing, there will not be time for this during a regular Bowen treatment. I suggest that you book a full nutrition-based consultation or package for this, information for which can be found via this link.
Hair Mineral Tissue Analysis
In some cases, particularly fertility issues, it can be very useful to undertake a test of your body’s mineral status. Finding any mineral imbalances or the presence of toxic metals and rebalancing this has been used to great effect in fertility programs.
”Michael has been treating me now for about 2 months and I am very impressed. I have had Bowen therapy previously but Michael's skill and knowledge is far superior. He has a gentle manner which is calming and puts you at ease. He was recommended to me by a local Pilates instructor and I am so glad as I'm really noticing a difference in my body.
