Michael Rogan ND, MSc, MEng, DipNutTh, MRN, MFNTP

My journey in natural health started at the young age of 6 when I developed a developmental joint problem. I underwent several operations, stayed in hospital for months at a time and was forced to use a wheelchair afterwards. Like many that are later drawn to alternative health fields, I was not satisfied with the treatment that I received and this experience sowed the seeds of interest in alternatives in my young mind.
As a result of this childhood experience, I have always been curious about health. Initially, I wanted to become a doctor but I was put off by the medical system so chose to apply my love for problem solving to a career in engineering. However, my soul was restless and not satisfied with sitting in an office filling in spreadsheets, and I took the opportunity to look for a new path in life in my late 20s. At the same time, the joint issue reoccurred. Once again, I faced doctors telling me that my life would have to be severely limited without offering any real solutions. My world was literally falling apart around me but this sparked a deep inner transformation.
Shortly after this, my path crossed with a man who would become my first mentor and guide me through the study of a wide range of subjects related to natural health and healing. This started with the study of the uses of herbs in natural medicine, and has since encompassed many areas including nutrition. Our collaborations continue to this day through GoldenAgeRemedies.com and QuestionofTiming.com where we offer unique and powerful solutions to today’s health challenges.

After working on complex health issues at Golden Age Remedies, I decided that I wanted to consult directly with clients to make more of a difference. My formal training encompassed the fields of Naturopathy, Nutrition and traditional Eastern medicine through training in Ayurveda, Chinese, Tibetan and Unani medicine, as well as homeopathy, hydrotherapy, homotoxicology, herbalism, vibrational remedies and environmental issues including EMFs & geopathic stress. Full details of my training are provided below.
During my life, I have experienced various health issues which have led to valuable experience in getting to the root cause of and overcoming an irritable bowel, gluten intolerance, acne, eczema, hay fever, arthritis and other joint issues, blood sugar issues, dehydration, a sluggish liver, adrenal fatigue and more. While my training and practice have exposed me to a wide range of health conditions, I am perfectly placed to understand and assist people dealing with similar conditions to those listed above.
Combining my background of problem solving from my engineering career with knowledge of natural health, I am particularly skilled in discovering the root causes of ill-health and thereby helping people to reclaim their health. Due to my unique background, I am known as the Natural Health Engineer.
Qualifications & Areas of Expertise
Naturopathy ND
Naturopathy is the holistic practice of supporting the body’s own natural healing mechanism to enable a return to optimal health. I was trained at the School of Health in Stroud, which provdes the most detailed and advanced training in naturopathy in the UK:
The Naturopathy Advanced Diploma covers a minimum of 5 years training in naturopathic subjects including Nutrition, Herbal Medicine, Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Tibetan & Unani Medicine, Hydrotherapy, Iridology, Homeopathy, Homotoxicology, Psychosocial Skills, and Oral Health (the connections between dental work, the health of the oral cavity and alignment of the jaw and teeth with the health of the rest of the body). Part of the certification program included a degree-equivalent level of training in Nutritional Therapy and one year program of Herbal Medicine study.
Michael is a Registered Naturopath with the General Council and Register of Naturopaths (GCRN), the oldest and most prestigious professional association for naturopaths and naturopathic practitioners in the UK. I am also registered as an Associate Naturopath with the Society of Naturopaths.
Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional Therapy is a holistic and personalised approach to supporting clients in optimising or maintaining their health, managing chronic disease or health conditions. Nutritional therapists utilise dietary therapy combined with neutraceuticals and life style advice. I trained at the Plaskett College, founded by Dr Lawrence Plaskett, whose background in medical biochemistry enabled him to offer a synthesis between many fields that are not often brought together: nutrition, pathology, biochemistry, toxicology, pharmacology, cell biology and naturopathy. Dr Plaskett was one of the pioneers of nutritional therapy in the UK and was himself trained by the famous naturopath Dr Bernard Jensen and acupuncturist Professor JR Worsley, amongst others.
Professional Diploma in Nutritional Therapy (3,000 hours, Level 6 degree level qualification) covering both naturopathic and modern scientific perspectives.
I am a member of the Federation of Nutritional Therapy Practitioners (FNTP).
Eastern Nutrition & Lifestyle Management
As part of my naturopathy studies, I trained in the ancient Ayurveda, Chinese, Tibetan and Unani medicines. This included training in holistic diagnosis (such as pulse taking, tongue diagnosis, iridology and more) with a focus on dietary and lifestyle techniques to bring people back into balance and optimal health. These ancient medical traditions have a complete philosophy of how disease originates and develops in the body which is lacking from modern Western medicine. This understanding is very useful in getting to the root causes of client’s issues and supporting them to return to a better state of balanced health.
Environmental Health, EMFs etc.
Just as a suitable internal environment of the body is essential for health, so too is the external environment in which we live our lives. My background in this area allows no stone to be unturned with respect to helping you to reclaim your health. Relevant training includes:
- MSc Environmental (Public Health) Engineering at Imperial College London – an intensive education in environmental and public health covering water and wastewater treatment, microbiology, air pollution and tropical epidemiology including water-borne, insect-borne and helminth diseases in collaboration with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
- Professional experience and private research in measuring and dealing with EMFs, geopathic stress and other harmful frequencies and subtle energies as part of my work with QuestionofTiming.com.
- MEng Chemical Engineering – a thorough four year training in chemistry, biochemistry, physics and engineering problem solving skills which I now apply to the field of health. I worked professionally in this field for several years.
- Feng Shui – training and research into classical Chinese Feng Shui and how to improve the subtle energetic environment of the home.
Herbalism, Flower Essences & Gem Elixirs
I have undertaken several courses with a range of teachers from across the world including an apprenticeship in herbalism, a student of Matthew Wood’s Institute of Herbalism, a one year training at the Scottish School of Herbal Medicine and as a certified practitioner of Taoist Stone Medicine with further training in gem elixirs. I also have professional experience in developing and producing herbal and vibrational remedies at GoldenAgeRemedies.com.
Please note that while some use of herbs can be integrated into my naturopathic services I am not a medical herbalist.
Spiritual Factors in Health
I have undertaken extensive research on the much overlooked importance of spiritual factors in health and this can be discussed if it is relevant to your case.
